Comics (like everything else) don't just sell themselves - they have to be sold. The people who perform this noble deed are retailers, and retailers need to know what is about so they can make decisions about which comics to buy (to sell on to us) and how many of them to buy. |
|
These tricky decisions are aided by promotional material produced by the publishers. On these pages in this section I have described my own collection of promotional material about Vampirella. Some of it is highly collectable, some interesting. For me the real fascination is comparing what actually happened with what Harris hoped would happen, especially in regard to the first Vampirella colour series which was originally planned to continue into at least Issue #9 (as the Harris Hotlines show). It is fascinating. |

As we now know the series was cancelled with #5, but the stories reappeared in later comics. Visit the Hotlines page to see the details. There are a number of different types of promotional literature here, but the two mains ones were the Harris Hotlines and the Retailer Previews. So take off your fan hat for a while and look at these items as if you were about to open up your own comic shop and were about to be wooed by the marketing people at Harris Comics. |
