The first issues of the new Vampirella magazine had the usual plethora of alternate covers to annoy the purists who dislike alternates, and please the collectors who just like collecting Vampirella comics.  The regular though, Mark Texiera's classic Vampirella pose, is a beaut!

I understand the first issues sold out pretty quickly, especially the regular and photo covers.  Perhaps it's because this is pure nostalgia, back to the days of Warren, and at the same time it's different.

Issue #7

Five covers as ever.  At the time I didn't appreciate how enjoyable 'Sky Captain' was going to be as a film - and Lara Croft on the front as well.

Issue #8

Issue #8 doesn't disappoint.  A cracking black and white story 'Witness' that looks just like an original Warren, a great Kitana Baker cover and what looks like Vampi in a dress in the art cover by Christopher Shy.  What more could you want?

By the way I do like these virgin covers - enables you to collect the art for itself.  Hope Harris consider a calendar or something of the virgin covers from the Vampirella Magazine sometime.

Issue #9

Okay, this is one cool issue.  I just love the Burns picture of Vampirella, it's a combination of misty magic and colour with a bewitching rendition of our favourite vampiress.  Kitana Baker looks very bewitching also, and the red curtains have memories of Twin Peaks and the Red Room - sending a shudder for those who have watched that landmark series.  And it was just a delight seeing Pendragon again in the strip inside.

Issue #10

My favourite cover of these 5 is the Newsstand cover - with Bruce Willis in the background and Jessica Alba doing her stuff from Sin City on the front.  I also like the Rafael Kayanan alternate cover - good to see Vampi stretching her wings even if they appear to be metaphorical.
